When should you use tough love? The term Tough Love basically indicates I love you, but I have to take a hard position and possibly cut you off from whatever is enabling you to go recklessly down the wrong path. Who is better at administering Tough Love men or women?
Parents, Teachers, Community Leaders, Clergy, siblings all these people may have to use Tough Love when the person they are trying to help manipulates them into enabling their behavior. What do you do when a person you love is in trouble, or fighting drug or alcohol addiction? How do you help and not hinder?
Tonight we want to look at the types of situation when Tough Love must be used and how enablers can change their actions to shift the responsibility where it belongs and stop enabling the person that has you locked into their self destructive behavior. It’ going to be Tough Love “Live in the Vocal Booth”.
