The Glass Ceiling a term developed in the 1970’s to describe the inequity dealt out to women and other minorities in the workplace. The Ceiling describing the barrier and the Glass implying the ceiling is invisible, but as many women have known the Glass Ceiling is a very real obstacle they encounter on their career journey.

Women that compete successfully in the corporate arena are paid less and opportunity for growth is limited. An accomplished woman can be viewed as intimating or accused of climbing the corporate ladder on her back. There are many reasons men lock women out of the top spots ranging from women are to emotional or the notion women will abandon their careers for love or to start a family.
