Tonight's discussion:A recent slew state legislative hearings on legalizing *medical* marijuana have been the news of late so BKS1 Radio wanted to give our our listeners a chance to weigh in on the debate.

Collapsing state budgets, the drug war raging in Mexico and weariness with current drug policy are all factors fanning optimism among marijuana decriminalization supporters. Some supporters say it would not only drastically help patients with painful diseases, it could weaken the Mexican cartels now profiting from U.S. pot sales, save billions in law enforcement costs, and generate billions more in tax revenue from one of the nation's biggest cash crops.
Opponents argue marijuana is a dangerous drug linked to health risks and can lead to drug abuse. That the legalization of marijuana will come at the expense of our children and public safety. Is legalizing medical marijuana a not only a humane act for those with painfully debilitating disease as well as a “cure” for many of our country aliments? Or would legalizing marijuana create unintended consequences such as dependency and treatment issues, and open the door to use of other drugs, impaired health, delinquent behavior, and drugged drivers.
