Author, historian and cyclist Peter Joffre Nye joins us today. Peter started racing in 1960 in New England at age 13 and competed in more than 1,000 races through 2002, worked 30 years covering national-level labor, economic, and business news as a reporter and editor in Washington, DC. He has published six books on cycling, written a documentary script, freelanced articles for 10 years for Winning Magazine, published articles in more than 100 newspapers and magazines, including Velo-News, Sports Illustrated, The Washington Post, USA Today.  Peter has served on the board of the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame since 1988. Our discussion will include a look at Joseph Magnani, a true American racing pioneer who took on Europe's best over 7 decades ago. Many consider the first Northern races in Belgium the real beginning of the racing season. This weekend saw the Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne and Omloop Het Nieusblad races. Chris Fontecchio (Podium Cafe) brings us up to date with his report on these gnarly events.
