The Olympics are a celebratory and joyous experience for all amateur athletes who have worked hard to compete on the world stage. Olympic games are significant to all nations around the world.

It is estimated that some four billion people globally will watch at least part of the Sochi Games before the XXII Olympiad comes to a close.

However, even before the start of the world-staged event, a dark cloud seems to be hovering over Russia. Bombings, shootings, laws against public display of homosexual preferences and even the legitimacy of the doping testing facilities in question, have shrouded the games negatively.

The State Department warned Americans of the potential for terrorism at the Sochi Olympics. Large-scale public events such as the Olympics are an attractive target for terrorists, thievery and scams.

Expert John Greenburg discusses the significance of the Olympics and what the Olympics stand for along with expert on terrorism, Dr. Anne Speckhard, who has examined why Russia is being targeted.
