From organized hockey games to backyard rinks, boyhood dreams exist. Playing in the NHL is a goal of many but few are able achieve. Parents and children alike don’t actually know the odds or are misinformed, but attempt to pursue the dream regardless of cost. Parents think that if their child is an elite level player paves a direct route to the NHL. They truly believe he’s destined to make pro level – even though there might be about 2,000 or more players similar in calibre as their son.

We all know the stories of hockey success … the young minor hockey protégé becomes a junior first round pick or college star who finds fame and a long career of riches.

For every story of success there are many tales of young players and families that share heartbreak and burned out kids. Many eyes filled with tears from trying to achieve a dream only to fall short of reaching it.

IWe will go in depth to dispel the myths, falsehoods and rumours. You deserve to know the real truth about pursuing the NHL dream. Co-Author of Selling the Dream is Jim Parcels joins us LIVE Wednesday January 16 @ 7PM EST at BEYONDtheCheers on blogtalkradio.
