Dropping the Reins (DtR) is a not-for-profit organization developed in 2009 to give the unique experience of being around horses to those who would not ordinarily have the opportunity. It is also for those who are seeking renewal, self-discovery, and empowerment in their lives. DtR seeks to help caregivers, and their families, by providing them with time to refresh and reflect on their care-giving experiences. For adults, the equine experience can lead to personal examination that enhances and alters life directions. For children, the experience of grooming and riding horses and ponies can free them from personal trauma in their lives.
