This week's guest is Fred Weber.
Fred began his professional life on an academic track. With a Ph.D. in philosophy from Northwestern, he joined the faculty of the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Involvement in a public program in the humanities, however, led him to the state-based program of the National Endowment for the Humanities, in Providence, RI. When federal funding for the arts and humanities grew scarce, a newly acquired MBA helped get him back to his native Chicago in a marketing position with Follett Corporation. The fit was excellent, and Fred stayed with Follett for nearly 30 years, retiring 3 years ago as SVP of Wholesale and Distribution Services. But, this year he returned to the college store industry as CEO of the ICBA, a retail cooperative of over 150 institutionally owned college stores. Business Life Transitions is a radio show that talks about you and your business. It will help you understand how to re-invent yourself, your business, and your life.
