Her artwork consists of BodyScape photographs contrasting hardships with the external world and Candy Pill paintings which delve abstractly into the internal world of struggle. At a young age, Tsircou competed professionally in horseback riding as a hunter/jumper and after a horrible fall, Marika had to undergo multiple neck surgeries and lived with chronic pain and its repercussions for many years. Marika creates and instills parts of her own life into her work while offering attempts at explanations of how one navigates through life conveying physical and emotional challenges.
