Got Poems? Got Rhythm? Got Rhyme? Got Reason? Got Voice? Got Someth’in that Got You? Got Someth’n to Say? Got a Way? Come March Ninth, Poetry Hour Long or Longer. Got That? Rummage Through Your Universe. Got Time? Got Timeliness? What About Timelessness? Got Expression? Got a Mouth? Got a Tongue? Say, What? Call in and read a poem. Post a poem in the Chat Room. Listen to other’s poems. Read your own poem or that of your favorite poet. Poems, with their accepted bending of the rules, allow us a unique expression. A re-forming of voice patterns and brain waves that propel us into some kind of alternate reality when the regular one won’t suffice. Poems are an expression of identity and selfhood, and often come streaming out of us during times of change and disruption of one sort or another. Because we must find a way to cope with our feelings and thoughts. This need for expression is also a need for originality. To move out of the groove of predigested thought-forms and wake up the psyche, especially if you have arrived at a new place. Poetry makes sense of things in a different sort of way. It connects us on a soul level. If regular language seems manufactured for the outer life, then poetry grabs us on an inner level. It makes the inner life real for it is the language of the spirit. And it knows the difference between the two.
