Salvatore Folisi
Drummer & Percussionist Salvatore was born into a home inundated with the rock music of the late 60's. His father is also a drummer, and worked for MCA & Capitol Records as a promotion manager ( http://frankfalisepromotions.com/ ) with many major recording artists including The Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elton John, Steely Dan, Radiohead, and Paul McCartney. Salvatore began playing drums as a child and has continued to this day. His love of music and drumming has led him to explore many genres including rock, pop, jazz, funk, fusion, blues, samba, latin and various world musics. In his early twenties, in addition to the drum set, he began playing West African drums, and has studied with Mamady Keita and Lamine "Dibo" Camara. From 2002 through 2007, Salvatore played djembe every week as a volunteer drummer for the African Dance class at the YMCA in Encinitas, CA. However, his love of creating his own original music has preoccupied the thrust of his musical endeavors. In late 2002, he founded his main project, Zindu (http://zindu.com), who released their first studio recording entitled "Shapeshifter" in Spring of 2006, and has toured the West Coast as well as Lima, Peru.
