ASA,
This Saturday, June 6, Critical Discourse is pleased to present Sister Desita Gray, an educator from New York City, by way of Jamaica, W.I., to discuss the dire need for early and proactive intellectual / brain construction for black children.
When we assess what is acknowledged as increasingly disappointing results on placement exams and academia in general, with black children, the challenge is to do whatever we can, to change this.
Not to satisfied with the deceptive notion of "closing the gap", in our drive to exceed, it is paramount that black parents engage their children in those activities that will develop a "better" brain. This covers what we read, how we read and communicate with them, the toys we choose and even the foods we select for them.
In speaking to brain development, perhaps we can more clearly understand some of the recent and disturbing violent scenarios, such as the Mac Donald's melees (our precious girls!).
Join us for what I know will be an adjunct to the other discussions we've had on the education of our children.
