OUR GUESTS: 6pm: Carol Burrell graphic novelist, participating in Color of Comics art exhibit (bio attached) 6:15pm: Elizaeth Nunez, the author of seven novels, including Prospero’s Daughter, a New York Times Editors’ Choice; and Bruised Hibiscus, winner of the American Book Award. Edwidge Danticat calls her new novel, Ana In-Between (Akashic), “fantastic…one of her best yet.” Provost at Medgar Evers College, the City University of New York, Nunez is executive producer of the Emmy-nominated CUNY television series Black Writers in America. 6:30pm: Denise Hamilton one of the editors of Akashic Books' critically acclaimed City Noir series- crime in literature. Denis is the editor of "LA Noir". 6:45pm: Helen Thorpe author of Just Like Us: The True Story of Four Mexican Girls Coming of Age in America (Scribner), is a veteran journalist who worked as a staff writer for The New York Observer, The New Yorker, and Texas Monthly. She lives in Denver, Col,, with her husband John Hickenlooper and their son Teddy. In 2002, she took a year off to work on her husband's successful campaign for mayor.
