Amy Beth chats with Emmy honored documentarian Linda Gartz, the author of the compelling new book,  Redlined: A Memoir of Race, Change, and Fractured Community in 1960’s Chicago.    The book explores her family’s financial and mental health struggles through the lens of “Redlining"  the marking off of areas where banks avoided making investments based on community demographics.  Her lower- middle class white family persisted as landlords in the ever changing landscape of Garfield Park in Chicago during America’s tumultuous decade of change.

While this is a specific story, with emotional, often riveting moments, it underscores the nati0n’s growing pains and the long-term economic and social implications still reverberating through our contentious culture.

Plus: our usual hoopla: takes on the cultural cacophony, Inspiration to Action shout-outs, music and more.
