Would you like the Postal Service to become your local banker, too? That idea has been floated by its inspector general.

The idea is the struggling service could produce needed revenue. And the network of offices would be needed in underserved areas like core cities and rural areas.

Critics wonder why adding more services would work. And why would a bank want to partner with the Postal Service?
