Since F4F began on Blogtalkradio, I've covered all kinds of popular pairings on the air. Cops. Criminals. Cops AND criminals. Doctors. Witches. Bosses and assistants. Superheroes. Stepsisters. In this segment, however, I'll be revisiting perhaps the most unusual pairing of all - humans and robots. And not just any robot either. Not that wimpy Bicentennial Man played by Robin Williams, or that little garbage compactor Wall-E. We're talking about Terminators, killing machines from the future brought to life in four Hollywood movies. And of course the topic at hand, the FOX drama "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles", which lasted an all-too-brief 1-1/2 seasons and which I discussed with Harper earlier this year. Sarah Connor may be a badass killing machine herself with a healthy paranoia when it comes to any number preceded by a T, but that didn't stop her from accepting the protection of Cameron, a newer model sent by the adult John Connor to the past to protect his younger self. (Okay, maybe "accept" is too strong a word.) And it hasn't stopped plenty of fans from becoming Sarah/Cameron 'shippers either. However aesthetically pleasing the thought of Lena Headey and Summer Glau together may be, the challenge for Sarah/Cameron authors is writing a story that takes a human who doesn't trust robots, and a robot who isn't exactly "programmed" for love, and making the pairing plausible, not just PWP smut. I'll be talking to three of the authors who have been among the most successful in this mission. Zennie wrote the "Mixed Emotions" series and the ongoing story "Gambit". Anklebones continues to write "Resistance" while creating random illustrations for her fellow authors. And "Women's Murder Club" guest Inspector Boxer returns to talk about her story "More Than a Mission" and the Terminator/Firefly fusion "No Rest for the Wicked".
