Native to Long Beach U.L. Harper attended Poly High School and then Cypress Community College where he became Editor In Chief of the Cypress Chronicle (in the good ol' days).
Currently, U.L. is an after-school program Site Director in Long Beach, California. Over one hundred students attend his program. Aside from this, the past saw him as a corporate manager. Earlier than that he worked as a journalist for a now defunct news agency in Los Alamitos, California. Newspapers is part of his writing background but he also dabbled in poetry. His poetry is published in The Body Politic chapbooks. His first work of fiction is The Flesh Statue, first published in 2005 and rereleased in 2009 with a new cover and smaller page count.
He performs literature at shows with the U.L. Harper Book Parade. The U.L. Harper Book Parade is a list of musicians and artists performing at events to help promote The Flesh Statue. In many ways it's simply an innovative book reading. Contact U.L. Harper if you want to be part of the book parade.
But if one were to examine fully the writing career of U.L. they'd find that he wrote a story in fourth grade about a boy who had to vacuum up somebody elses bodily functions. This earned U.L. a conferance with his teacher and an awkward talk with his mother at home. Later in life U.L. would also write a poem so visceral that he would not be allowed into his friends home. The working title for his upcoming novel is Once Human, Now Food. And it's not a vampire or werewolf novel.
