Singer/songwriter and Virginia Beach native, Rina Chanel, has captivated audiences through r&b, soul, jazz, swing, pop, ensemble and opera performance experiences.

Rina fuses her smooth R&B vocals with various R&B era instrumental backings that highlight her unique sound and blends the best elements of Jazz and R&B. Her skillful songwriting and vocal delivery provide a refreshing classic take on the return of the future of R&B music.

Through a strong foundation of music education, Rina developed classical proficiency and dexterity; learning to sing in French, German, Italian, and Czech from attending The Governor’s School for the Arts (Norfolk, VA) and attending Radford University on a voice scholarship. She also performed with Opera NOVA and Opera Camerata of Washington, D.C.

In 2015, Rina began studying voice with International Recording Artist Tracy Hamlin and transitioned from Opera to performing R&B, Soul, Jazz, and other genres. Rina performed background vocals for Ms. Hamlin, and opened for After 7 at the 2017 Baltimore County African American Festival. She was a guest artist at the Bull Run Winery for the band Special Occasions. Ms. Chanel was a featured artist on Raymond Barton’s EP “If Only for Love” (2017) performing the track “Don’t Give Up on Love.”

Rina currently performs with The Groove Factor band, and is working on her debut EP with musician, producer and songwriter Bennie Pearce (Phillie-BOP Productions) to be released in 2020.
