(Story Summary)

"I never experimented with drugs, but after knee surgery in 2001, I became addicted to prescription painkillers. I fell in love with how they made me feel, and my life quickly turned upside down. I lost everything .
I moved in with my parents,  but they didn't understand what was happening to me at the time. I hid my addiction very well, no one knew. When I went through the brutal withdrawals, my parents just thought I was sick.
In 2009 I started losing my hearing and was told by a doctor that I was going deaf from the excessive use of the opioids.
In 2010, after 11 years, I ended my chase for prescription painkillers. I stopped cold turkey and I have been in recovery ever since.
I became a Public figure when my story was on the front page of a newspaper.  I'm so proud of myself because I've turned my tumultuous past into a great testimony!  http://chasenomore.org
