Joyce King Discusses her Chilling Book "Hate Crime" on the Jasper TX, Murder

In these times of still-ongoing hate towards African Americans by young white boys like Dylann Roof and George Zimmerman to members of the nations law enforcement precincts, host Chris Stevenson feels it's time to re-examine a book released in 2003 based on a highly-publicized tragedy in June of 1998; "Hate Crime: The story of a Dragging in Jasper Texas." The savage murder of  James Byrd Jr., (49) whom was walking home from a party when three white men in a pickup truck offered him a ride. They drove Byrd out to a lonely country road, tied him to a logging chain, and dragged him 3 miles to his death. Today young white boys are stalking blacks while walking home from the convenient store to going to a black church and sitting through a prayer and discussion before opening fire on them. The more things change...

Chris will interview King about those alleged changes. Joyce King is a former reporter and anchor for a CBS radio affiliate, and an award-winning 20-year broadcast veteran. "Hate Crime" is her first of two books. She also writes guest columns and opinion pieces for USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, and The Dallas Morning News. She is also a native Texan assigned to cover the story, which drew international media headlines.
