Manning Marable's last book was released just after his passing. It was called "Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention," and only served to invent a fire-storm of outrage throughout the intelligensia of the black community.

Much of this was due to remarks attributed to Marable seemingly meant to de-value, de-masculinize and marginalize the legacy of history's most influential African American nationalist.

In response another book was put together by Jared A. Ball; an Associate Professor at Morgan State University, and Todd Steven Burroughs; a lecturer in the Morgan State Department of Communication.

Their book "A Lie of Reinvention" where they utilize several noted authors, investigative journalists, and writers in their own right, such as Mumia abu-Jamal, Karl Evanzz and others, in what can be considred a sharp critique aimed at setting things straight on the matter of Malcolm X whom is obviously not here to defend himself.
