Corrective movements for pain can be tricky and sometimes unpredictable. It could just as easily cause painful protection and therefore limited or limiting movement. In order to change things for the better, we need to nudge things in that direction. Today, we will focus on using a "top-down" approach in therapy as compared to the traditional "bottom-up" paradigm. We will discuss Cory's own type of therapy called "edgework" and how he applies it in his practice with a neuroscience foundation.
Our guest today is Cory Blickenstaff, PT, OCS. Originally from the Midwest, Cory graduated from the University of Indianapolis’ physical therapy program. After working for a time in the Midwest he and his wife moved to Vancouver, WA in 2004. Along the way he has become a board certified clinical specialist in orthopaedics through the American Physical Therapy Association, as well as owner-operator of Forward Motion Physical Therapy in Vancouver, Washington.
