Prem Bhatia is co-founder with John Duisberg of Cooleaf.

What is the purpose of Cooleaf?

How does it answer the three essential questions for companies considering solutions for their employee engagement challenges:

  • What’s in it for me?
  • Why should I care?
  • Why should I believe?

Prem explained the purpose of Cooleaf to me:

We want to reframe the conversation around employee engagement from being that of HR’s responsibility to being that of an internal marketing solution.

As we both acknowledged, the state of employee engagement is a sad state of affairs. Businesses have been debating its terms and figures and solutions for over a decade or nothing good is happening.

Prem demo’d Cooleaf’s platform and showed how it transformed the employee engagement conversation from a top-down initiative to one carried on at the frontlines where employees spend their day, engaging in their conversations on their schedules,  on their topics of interest.

That’s employee engagement. Employees engaging, as adults, around the topics of their choice: professional and personal. And the company providing the tools and resources, including trust, to facilitate and allow these conversations to take place. That’s employee engagement.

The platform appeared easy to personalize, administer and draw data from, the participation rate was high on events and activities, personal and professional. That’s what’s in it for you.

Employees volunteering for these events signal high levels of trust, collaboration, communication - all the hallmarks of healthy relationships, profitable companies. That's why you should care.
