In fact a Christian Science Monitor article states over the past four years the high school graduation rate dropped from 69.2 percent to 68.8 percent as reported by Diploma Counts 2010. In other words, in 2007, 11,000 fewer students graduated from high school as compared to the number that graduated in 2006. To further punctuate the graduation problem, when it comes to race and ethnicity gaps still persist, 46% of Blacks, 44% of Latinos and 49% 0f Native Americans did not earn a diploma in four years.
