'Survivors World' talks with Mr. Jack Stoskoph!! He is now a voice for male survivors, but before he was 4 he had already been introduced to the cruelty of sexual abuse.
Mr. Stoskoph is a powerful voice and is speaking publicly more often now as he has journeied through the battle of nightmares, addictions, marriage problems and more. It's not that he has fully recovered, but he is speaking up to bring truth to the issues of Male Survivors.
Men are often laughed at when they try to seek help from old fashioned resources designed to help women and children. In past generations we didn't raise our boys to have emotions or to feel pain; it was all about the strong and silent type. In reality, 21.7% of child rapes are boys under age eleven. Then as they grow more often then not, they become too old for the predetor to rape; instead the beatings and emotional destruction begin. Unfortunately there are not many trained available resources for male survivors. It is by bringing attention and voices to the lost that we can begin to change this. Our laws are in place, the language in VAWA Reauthorization allows for services to include men, but how can we change how society sees these men? Should they seek help? Will they be ostracized or laughed out of the building?
Join in as we talk with this one powerful voice, now coming alive over the blog talk radio networks and joining the Incest Survivors United Voices of America!!
