Today's guest is Liverpool native and author Helen Stringer. Helen came across the pond to the west coast to attend film school and work in the film industry.

Now a resident of the Bay Area, Helen has entered the world of YA novels. Her book, Spellbinder features the main character Belladonna Johnson who can see ghosts. It’s a trait she’s inherited from her mother’s side of the family, like blue eyes or straight hair. And it’s a trait she could do without, because what twelve-year-old wants to be caught talking to someone invisible?

Helen has an uncanny ability to think and write in the tone young aults can relate to. Tune in as we find out what inspires her to write, how she got into the publishing industry and what advice she has for aspiring YA novelists everywhere.

She's also written the Midnight Gate. Join us as she talks about the world of young adult fantasy and what inspires her.
