Welcome to the Voice of Change. I'm Sharon Ann Wikoff, host of this program.  Today's conversation will revolve around how to develop a close and open relationship with your child/ren so you are respected by them in an authentic way. This can be with your own child/ren and/or those you work with in a teaching setting or child care.  Although some may feel they automatically "deserve" the respect of children, I've discovered it must be earned on a regular basis.   Years ago I moved from Oregon to California in order to study with a lady who was extraordinary in her ability to connect with children.  She once said that the ability for a child to hear what you are saying and respect you is dependent on the quality of the relationship you have with that child. I've seen this to be true over and over again. Therefore, a strong and on-going connection is essential.   So, how does one develop such a relationship with a child?  I believe it is dependent on the CONNECTION you create with the child based on LISTENING and your COMMUNICATION with her/him.  How do we build this connection?  How do we listen in a way that makes a difference?  How do you communicate with them to build that special connection? This will be the conversation. Join us.
