Why Does Jesus Christ Want Our Old Nature Dead And Burried? To Bear Fruit

The Bible says that we as believers are to know that our old man, that old sinful nature, is crucified with Christ, that the body of sin might be destroyed, so that we no longer serve sin. We are not to live with the old nature, coddle it, just have it crop up sometimes, or play around with it. It is to be destroyed through death. We are to recon that part of us, that old sinful part of us was in Christ when He died. We are now raised in the newness of life. The devil wants to weaken us by getting us to live by, and feed our former lusts. That is how we become powerless believers.
