JoAnn Ajayi-Scott is no stranger to working with women and girls. All of her life she has been involved in creating opportunities for helping ladies and young ladies build self-esteem and promote a positive self-image. 

Essence of a Lady,Inc. has been in existence since 1989. It began as a social and charitable organization with 20 ladies. In July, 2003, seven ladies came together to develop E’Ladies Network. August, 2003, Young Essence Ladies..Learning (YELL!) was created to provide mentoringship and program for young ladies between the ages of 13-19 years old.
