Dr. Howson, previously a Professor of Logic at the London School of Economics, is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Ontario in Canada. He was president of the British Society for the Philosophy of Science for the years 2003-2005. A discussion of Bayes’s Theorem and its application in scientific reasoning is incomplete without the inclusion of his 1989 book Scientific Reason: A Bayesian Approach but it is his most recent book, Objecting to God, that we invited Dr. Howson to talk to us about. Specifically, we wanted to examine the ways apologists for theism are misusing probability to craft arguments for God that, ultimately, fall apart under examination.
