Dr. Gericke, of North-West University in South Africa, a former member of the Dutch Reformed Church, holds the Doctor of Letters degree in Semitic Languages and a Ph.D. in Old Testament with a focus in Philosophy of Religion. He is the author of many papers, one of those appearing in the new John Loftus anthology, The End of Christianity.
Dr. Gericke joins us to talk about his journey out of faith and the conception of Yahweh in the Old Testament. In particular he explains how this conception is so different from the conception of God today, and what this means for those that profess to believe in the god of the 3 Abrahamic faiths.
