The Lack of Holiness in the ChurchYou can't turn on the television these days without seeing news stories full of violence, programs full of so-called "alternative lifestyles," someone begging for money to support their latest venture or fighting between people whose only claim to fame is that they slept with someone famous. These things most people call secular or worldly have seeped into the church. It's gotten to the point where we can't tell the difference sometimes between what is Christian and what is the world? For example, you'll hear, "He ain't living right, but he sure can preach." Many times, we give passes for things we should correct. Many people go to church to hear a leader's insight or interpretation of the Bible. If there is a call for prayer, you're there. You may even ask those you believe to be especially "anointed" to pray to God on your behalf. Because you all claim to be Christians, there is an inherent belief that everyone is operating with integrity. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. For some leaders, church is not about leading people to Christ. It's about preying on a congregation's fears and worries to get them to donate a certain amount of money to guarantee a more "blessed" life. Instead of being so eager to hear "a word" from someone in leadership, why not go to God yourself? He is our Father and listens to us just as easily as a pastor. Be skeptical of people who only come to town to deliver a message from God and then ask you to pay for it in the form of a donation. Remember that you can always go to God freely (and for free). That doesn't mean it's wrong for others to pray for us. Just make sure you haven't opened a door for you to become prey. Some think God throws all of our sins into the "sea of forgetfulness." Others believe that punishment for sin lasts for years, that bad things happening in your life now are a result of something you did wrong 10+ years ago. Some Christians even believe they have to constantly beat themselves over mistakes they made as a way to show they're sorry. None of these beliefs are Biblically sound. In fact, the Bible is very clear about forgiveness, how God sees things and how we should handle situations as well. Tune in as we teach on forgiveness God's way. It is because they feel a void without Jesus in their lives. Instead of seeking Him, they try to substitute His presence for things of this world. It doesn't work though. No matter how much they attempt to fill the empty space in their heart with things that don't really matter, they will never be whole. They will remain incomplete until they fill it with Jesus. The number of people who consider themselves Christian continues to decrease. It's not that people no longer identify with the ideology. Many are leaving because they experienced disappointment, ran into hypocrites who claimed Christ but acted as if they were in league with the enemy, or had a disagreement with a fellow Christian that couldn't be resolved. As Christians, the Bible gives us clear direction on how we're supposed to handle conflicts within the Christian body. Unfortunately, things rarely play out like that. How many of you feel comfortable going to your leadership with an issue and feel like it'll be resolved in a positive manner? How many of you have tried to calmly resolve a conflict with a fellow brother or sister in Christ only to be met with anger instead? We'll talk about how we're supposed to resolve conflicts and what we're to do when the other party isn't following Biblical tenets. 02:00:00The Truth About ChurchnoChistianity, conflict resolution, church, resolve conflictsOn today's episode, we cover conflict resolution within the church and with people. Every time you look up there's a new reality show featuring Christians (Preachers of Wherever), some high profile family, or a particular pastor. Why would a Christian want to watch these shows? The bigger question is what would motivate a so-called spiritual leader to agree to film the show, especially knowing that producers can edit the show to enhance drama? There is a Scriptural foundation for all of this that will be covered on the show. We will get into how the world really views Christians and how networks are exploiting and laughing at the followers of Christ. 02:07:00The Truth About Churchnochristianity, reality tv,Reality TelevisionHow Reality TV Affects ChristiansHow to be an Effective Evangelist, the Biblical Wayhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thetruthaboutchurch/2016/01/18/how-to-be-an-effective-evangelist-the-biblical-wayChristianityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thetruthaboutchurch/2016/01/18/how-to-be-an-effective-evangelist-the-biblical-way/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thetruthaboutchurch/2016/01/18/how-to-be-an-effective-evangelist-the-biblical-wayMon, 18 Jan 2016 19:00:00 GMTHow to be an Effective Evangelist, the Biblical WayMatthew 28:19 tells us to go out and make disciples of all nations. What is lacking in today's church is true evangelism.  Churches go out and pass out advertisements to come to church.  Then we wait for the people to come pouring into our buildings. That's not really evangelism. Instead of throwing tracts to whoever passes by, we must be more intentional in our service. Perhaps, it's because we Christians make Christianity look so unappealing. Here are a few examples: The holy roller - They always have an opinion about how others should live their lives and turn their noses up at anything they deem a sin. They are quick to condemn, until it's their own mess. The mean and the rude - While they go to church and smile on Sunday, they are horrible to deal with Monday through Saturday. They forget that Jesus called us to love one another. The unforgiving - They are quick to tell you to forgive those who have wronged you but are still mad at someone who hurt them 30 years ago. The main theme here is hypocrisy. It runs rampants and today's people are quick to pounce on those that say one thing and do another. They don't know if they want to live for the Lord or live for the world. In Matthew 7:20, Jesus states, "Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them." (NIV) We take this to mean that if you line up the lives of Christians with those of non-believers, you'll be able to tell the difference in how Christians carry themselves, how they react to conflict, and more. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Sadly, many are in line with the next verse in Matthew, " Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven..." (Matthew 7:21 NIV). These days, many "Christians" and so-called Christian organizations are more concerned with money, power and titles than helping you develop your relationship with the Lord. They don't live their lives to seek God. Instead, they seek to gain acceptance from the secular world. This identity crisis seeps down from the leadership to the members in the congregation, and it has got to stop. In this show, we'll examine this identity crisis, where it comes from and how we can get Christians back on the right path. 02:03:00The Truth About ChurchnoChristianity, true Christian, scripture,JesusExamining the Christian Identity CrisisExamining the Spirit of Error: Where Does It Come From, and How to Get it Outhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thetruthaboutchurch/2015/10/30/examining-the-spirit-of-error-where-does-it-come-from-and-how-to-get-it-outChristianityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thetruthaboutchurch/2015/10/30/examining-the-spirit-of-error-where-does-it-come-from-and-how-to-get-it-out/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thetruthaboutchurch/2015/10/30/examining-the-spirit-of-error-where-does-it-come-from-and-how-to-get-it-outFri, 30 Oct 2015 21:00:00 GMTExamining the Spirit of Error: Where Does It Come From, and How to Get it OutHave you ever wondered why there are so many things that don't make sense in the church?
