Our guest this morning is Rene Sandera from Super Sports.

Rene has been selling fashion and athletic footwear and apparel for over 40 years. He opened Super Sports in 1980 as one of just a few retail shops in Manhattan Village.

Rene expanded his operations to the Manhattan Country Club with the opening of a Pro Shop in 1982 and in 1986 he opened Sports Mania in Manhattan Village Mall selling license sporting goods. In 1988 Rene took over management duties at the El Segundo Golf Course and Driving Range. In 1990 Super Sports expanded in Manhattan Village to an 8000 square foot location.

Rene was born and raised in Manhattan Beach. He attended Meadows Elementary School, Foster A Begg Middle School and Aviation High School. He went on to El Camino Collage where he played on the tennis team, earning several Tennis scholarships from out of state schools only to turn them down to focus on his business.

Super Sports is celebrating 40 years in business this month and is a Super Star supporter of our local schools. They participate in Mira Coast's ‘School to Career’, a program offering work to challenged students, and this morning, we’ll learn the history of Super Sports and the impact they’ve had on the community.
