We have a returning guest this morning, Ed Lynch, Founder of Mychal’s Learning Place
Ed Lynch founded Mychal’s Learning Place in 2001 in honor of his daughter, Mychal. At the age of two it became apparent that she was developmentally and physically disabled. Mychal passed away at the young age of 7 1/2. As a result, Ed has dedicated his life to creating programs that enable youth and adults with developmental disabilities to live independent, fulfilled and productive lives. What started as a small after-school program in Hawthorne for 16 students has grown into a variety of programs for over 100 students that include a second after-school program in Culver City, the MILE Program; Path to Independence Adult Day Program; and most recently Mykie’s Café a pop up coffee and bakery service providing training and employment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
This morning, we learn about the upcoming “Santa Stroll” fundraiser and of course, updates on what is happening at Mychal’s these days.
