Seniors and single adults will also benefit greatly in designing a successful family legacy.  What questions will this seminar answer for your and your family:  1. What is successful family legacy, and how do we establish one?  2. What are the cultural pitfalls which threaten our family?  3. What are the strengths and weaknesses of our family; cyclical or generational blind spots we face? How do we overcome those weaknesses?  4. Our family is currently in crisis, are we losing focus, or have we lost control?  5. Do we know how to define and establish a “statement of identity and vision” for current family members and future generations to embrace?  6. Are we building a “barrier to” or preference for” our beliefs and legacy for our dependents? Will they ever embrace our rules despite personal agendas?  7. There is no doubt times have changed, and along with time have the modes and mediums of communication also.  Even the styles and ways we dress for success have made some eye-popping and jaw-dropping changes.  But are those, in most cases, convenient and relevant changes grounds for some of the disruptions in social interactions we are seemingly forced to bear?  Could the more frequent fights and disruptions within the modern family be a result of lack of respect (especially for elders), which is consequently a breakdown in healthy communication, and ultimately the product of our decision to abandon proper mannerism and etiquette? Today we choose to label the disruptions described earlier by "high-end clinical" terms such as communication breakdown, lack of people skills, social deficits, personality disorders, or personality conflicts. The game of football and men throwing their bodies around in reckless abandonment in pursuit of a leathery oval object is an incredible sight to behold.  Even more painfully impacting from a sofa or a distance, and with great wonder the level of pain inflicted, are the sounds and crunching impact of bodies violently colliding that leaves our masculinity hungering and panting for more.  It is that lure and the thrills of the next day's and week's water cooler and lunch break conversations that has many men and families consumed, and many times in disarray. Sadly too often we (men especially) have traded the temporary fixes of fantasy leagues, sports bar congregations, and similar attractions at this time of the year for frequently too steep a cost.  Shortsighted views and behaviors deflate the society. Our guest is a formal college football standout and NFL Pro Bowl nominee who delivered many of those tantalizingly addictive hits.  For many years he lived and breathed football as his sole identity.  He knows firsthand what it means to be consumed by the sport and this season of the year.  Now he is a messenger who delivers verbal hits and emotional pressure that builds and affirms men and families via the Word of Truth. Giving children a good start in life means we are supporting early childhood development. Proper nutrition and mental stimulation, along with good maternal health, have a significant impact on a child's long-term physical, cognitive, and emotional development. Without the right care in the first five years of life, a child's health, education and future earnings potential can be severely disadvantaged, making it more likely that a child who grows up in poverty will be unable to break free from poverty as an adult. Today's Show Details: As we seek every week this program is aired to portray the power of multi-generational family legacy, here is thought for you to consider.  I am not sure where I got this from, probably from one of my pastors, but I believe it portrays something of a Hebrew belief statement.  Here it goes... In a row boat our backs face the direction we are headed which means the target is rarely in plain sight.  If we turn our heads to see what's coming while rowing, we likely lose course and direction.  Nevertheless, knowing our target destination, we row smoothly when we have confidence in the distance we have traveled (past) in our sights.  With an occasional view of the target (planning), we have confidence to navigate obstacles (future) that may arise because of our confidence built from the course we have rowed already and yet sits in our sights as we row. Grandparents, good or bad, represent the confidence of the past depicted in the belief statement above.  However, we as young adults and parents of this era have chosen to forget about grandparents and are paying the costly disconnect of our choices.  However, too many of us are oblivious to the existence of this problem within our family. Dr. Trevor Campbell has practiced medicine for over 30 years, focusing on chronic pain, opioid elimination, and counseling.  He co-authored THE GRANDPARENT'S HANDBOOK in partnership with author and esteemed educator Shirley Bell. He will help us understand why it is about grandparents. 01:05:00AuthorZekenoabout grandparents, this era, family, family legacy, confidencePlease visit our Blog, join our email list for updates, and claim your FREE GIFT from one of our affiliate partners.  The hub of all we do is The Firstborn SonRemember September 11th 2001 By Honoring Families Serving!http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thefirstbornsonshow/2012/09/08/we-remember-september-2011-by-honoring-families-servingFamilyhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thefirstbornsonshow/2012/09/08/we-remember-september-2011-by-honoring-families-serving/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thefirstbornsonshow/2012/09/08/we-remember-september-2011-by-honoring-families-servingSat, 08 Sep 2012 20:00:00 GMTRemember September 11th 2001 By Honoring Families Serving! The women of our families provide a great deal more than the critical importance of giving us life.  Yet, as we seek to build multigenerational family legacies, many times the volatile and eruptive relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is sadly the epicenter of the volcanic family. Proberbs 14:1 states "A wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her own hands." By offering a source for answers that is "Your In-Law Survival Guide" Dr. Deanna Brann, Ph.D. provides helpful guidance and direction to daughter-in-laws and mother-in-laws. Throughout the communities of our world, especially in the western culture, there is a loud cry for the need and ideas around how to develop healthy families.  That need it appears is no more severe than in recent times as we continue to realize the degradation of strong social etiquette amongst young people and families.  Although we are aware each generation sounds its alarm on this matter, our world of technology with its pros and cons has accelerated the familial challenges we now face. In my desire to relocate the ownership of a solution to this problem upon individual families, which will undoubtedly solve the greater problem if successful, I ask "Family Name, Is Yours a Recognizable Brand?" I believe it is strange and greatly intriguing that the term "Family Branding", however popular a term, has nothing to do with the cultural family unit.  Instead it refers to corporate branding strategy for products and services.  Yet all of the intricate family traits that make the strategy successful in business are traits that will go a long way to assuring a healthy family for you and me.  Corporations and businesses have so smoothly stolen the phrase, along with its intentions, that it no longer has any significance to its foundational origin, the family. As we pursue reigniting the discussion of family legacy within your home, why isn't your family name or family surname a recognizable brand that you would develop, protect, and defend as every corporation would its brand? With this week's show we intend to enlighten you and provide a new and unique motivation that empowers long term family legacy and family unity. 00:59:00AuthorZekenoFamily Name, family legacy,Family surname,Family Branding,Healthy FamilyThroughout the communities of our world, especially in the western culture, there is a loud cry for the need and ideas around how to develop healthy families.Chaos To Legacy - Star Parker of CURE, prior ABC's The Viewhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thefirstbornsonshow/2012/08/04/chaos-to-legacy--star-parker-of-cure-prior-abcs-the-viewFamilyhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thefirstbornsonshow/2012/08/04/chaos-to-legacy--star-parker-of-cure-prior-abcs-the-view/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/thefirstbornsonshow/2012/08/04/chaos-to-legacy--star-parker-of-cure-prior-abcs-the-viewSat, 04 Aug 2012 20:00:00 GMTChaos To Legacy - Star Parker of CURE, prior ABC's The View   Star Parker is President of C.U.R.E and a nationally syndicated columnist to more than 300 media outlets. Her organization is doing tremendous work as a political voice for the underprivileged in America. According to CURE, the reality is that government dependency destroys personal dignity and devastates entire communities. Abortion has wiped out 47 million potential citizens since 1973. Thirty percent of America's children are born into single parent households. Seventy percent of youth offenders were birthed outside of marriage. Illiteracy rates are 50 percent in most inner city public schools, yet religion has been pushed to the sidelines of political discourse and public debate. "Chaos To Legacy" takes a look a Star Parker because she has lived and seen most of what she speaks of firsthand. Despite her destructive past, today she leaves a legacy that impacts millions of lives daily. Her legacy now challenges others from a place of restoration and future progress, rather than hopelessness and regret.
