Building a Dementia-Friendly Community
Join us this week for a ground-breaking discussion on how dementia is effecting our communities, our country and our world and how we as individuals can step forward and become the pioneering hub for solutions and change as the silent epidemic of dementia continues to expand.
This week our esteemed guest is Mr. Cary Rotter, Owner of Comfort Keepers in Memphis, TN, and one of the most savvy senior care professionals and politically aware business owners I have had the honor of working with.
Building Dementia Friendly Communities should become a worldwide priority and must include a deeper understanding of this horrific medical condition from the perspective of those affected by dementia as well as the professional/family caregiver and the entire community. We will explore the barriers that people face in their community, how they and their caregivers would like to be engaged locally and the support/education everyone needs to empower them to do so.
We will be discussing how each community and is unique -from those residing in their own home to those in assisted living/memory care/skilled nursing, etc…all the way to promoting awareness of dementia in all shops, businesses and services so all owners, operators and staff demonstrate understanding and know how to recognize and assist in managing symptoms.
You will not want to miss this critical episode aiming to provide guidance to areas looking to become dementia-friendly and to provide additional support for those already living with or caring for dementia to making our local communities and the world “dementia-friendly”.
