ABOUT OFFICER STAN MASON (EXCERPTS FROM STANMASON.COM)
Like everyone, I assume many roles in life. I am a father, son, husband, brother, police officer, veteran, friend, uncle and perhaps a few others that escape me at the moment. In every aspect of my life, I pursue that which is just; that which is fair.
I am African American, but I am not exclusively on the side of black people. I am an officer, but I am not exclusively on the side of the police. I have Caucasians in my family, but I am not exclusively on the side of white people. I am a man, but I am not exclusively on the side of men. I believe in God, but I am not exclusively on the side of Christians, nor any other denomination or religion.
As Malcom X said, I am for the truth. As such, I support that which I believe to be proper and just with the same fervor that I oppose what I consider to be unjust — irrespective of what person or group it may compliment or criticize.
To be sure, many may find my approach brash, bold, arrogant, perhaps even disloyal. I must be honest, such perceptions do not concern me. What does concern me is doing everything in my power to make my neighborhood, my community, my state, my country the very best it can be. To achieve this, I believe we all must directly address the issues that are preventing our society from living up to its promise. We must have the hard talks on the hard issues.
As such, it is often necessary for me to point out activities, ideologies, practices and institutions that seek to subvert the truth or usurp fairness.
