Non emergency vehicles are expected to be off the streets by 11:00pm. As the blizzard progresses, we will keep you updated. Since we are on the air. We can discuss tonight's episode of Celebrity Apprentice. Tonight, in the first episode,  Sig Hansen went home and deservedly so. I have been watching Celebrity Apprentice from the beginning and never have I seen a Project Manager have such an outburst. His behavior toward the bartenders was completely unprofessional and inexcusable.  Had that been Vivica or Kenya, they would have been sent home. And speaking of being sent home, Kenya talks about knowing so much about luxury, yet she was rolling around on the ground in front of children. She was representing Donald Trump.  During the second episode, the teams had the rask of recreating Trump Doral Miami. Kate was the Project Manager for Team Vortex with of course Geraldo as her co Project Manager.  Ian Ziering a true class act was the Project Manager for Team Inifnity.  I think Kate Gosselin had no intention of respecting Vivica and Kenya. Dare I say, Kenya was partially right.  Kate only used them as gophers rather than getting solid input.  She saw herself and Geraldo as the brains behind the operation and the other ladies were treated like Interns. I never saw Kate ask their opinion. If she asked Kenya for advice on how to make it more luxurious, she may have won. But since Kate lost, we were treated to boardroom battle between Kenya and Vivica. Why do all reality shows have to have African Americans at each other's throats. The scene was uncomfortable and unncessary. In the end, Kenya "twirled" her way out of being fired by kissing the butts of the Trump Family. Kate Gosselin was fired. 00:13:00The Urban Woman RadionoBlizzard,Celebrity Apprentice,Kenya Moore,Vivica Fox,.We are broadcasting live to bring you updates on the impending blizzard.  NYC Public Schools are closed. We are definitely waiting to exhale as we anticipate tomorrow's Whitney Houston Movie on Lifetime.  Are you going to be watching ? At first I was not going to watch it. I felt Angela Bassette was being disrespectful to the memory of Whitney Houston especially since her family did not want the movie to happen.  After seeing the previews, I think it is going to be a hit like the TLC movie. They certainly did a good job of casting. We will see and you know we do a special recap tomorrow night after the movie. Speaking of movies, Selma did not receive as many Oscar nominations as it should. David Oyelowo should have been nominated for Best Actor. However, as I said in my previous show, he is not Denzel nor is he Jamie Foxx or Cuba Gooding Jr. This is in no way meant to be disrespectful. He is not the typical Hollywood definition of cool.  He is more of a Sidney Poitier. Speaking of which he could certainly portray him should they make a movie about his life.  I also wanted to mention that we will also be doing restaurant reviews. Today's review is of the restaurant Erawan on Bell Blvd in Bayside. I went there the other day for take out. The waitress asked me, "Would you like to pay first ?" i should have said no. But really ? I did not see anyone else given that "option"  Did you all see Dance Moms on Tuesday night ? Holly is in rare form. Showin' out as they say. Big shout outs to Holly. I did not know she is a native New Yorker. She is from the Bronx. Nia deserves so much more than the back row and ethnic roles. She is very talented. I hope Debbie Allen takes her under her wing one day. We all miss Chloe, Paige and Brooke. The show is not the same. Everyone is blaming Abby. I blame the Producers. They cause the drama in order to keep the show on the air. The girls are paying the price...Stay Tuned.   00:22:00The Urban Woman RadionoWhitney,WhitneyMovie,Angela Bassette,Dance moms,The OscarsWelcome to The Urban Woman Radio. We have alot of things to discuss. Did you see the movie Selma ? I had the pleasure of attending a Press Screening as well as Q&A Session with the Producers and Stars of the Movie.  Selma is a powerful movie that is very timely to what is happening now in both Ferguson and NYC.  Selma won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song "Glory". Common gave a powerful speech about how Selma changed his views. I think Selma should have won more awards. David Oyelowo was nominated for a Golden Globe but did not win.  I think that is a real injustice. But I am not surprised. David also did very well in The Butler. He has a very unique personality. David is not a Jamie Foxx or a Denzel Washington. I am so happy that Oprah recognizes his talent and genuine spirit.  He is unlike anything we have ever seen. I think Ava Devurnay should have won for Best Director. She is the first African American Woman to be nominated for such an honor. Parts of the movie reminded me of Malcolm X. Ava made us explore parts of the character of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr that we had not looked into before. He was much more than "I Have A Dream.." Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was not without flaws. The movie implied that he was not faithful to Coretta or "Corey" as he lovingly referrred to her. I  never stopped to think about his jealousy of Malcolm X.  Ava did an outstanding job. No show would be complete without mentioning Dance Moms. We are in Season 5. Three of the original dancers are gone. Nia will most likely become the newest scapegoat. In order to keep the show relevant and full of controversy, Abby Lee Miller is allowing Maddie to participate in Music Videos that will lead to many discussions. First it was Chandelier and now its Elastic which co stars Shia Lebouf.  00:30:00The Urban Woman RadionoSelma,Oprah,Common,Ava Duvernay,Dance MomsWelcome to a Brand New Year of the Urban Woman Radio on BlogTalkRadio. She captures not only the diva qualities, but also the passionate and strong side of the legendary songstress. Motown the Musical is a highly entertaining from the from the current rises to the grand finale. Krystal Joy Brown is a soon to become a household name. She has starred in the Broadway Production of the hit show Rent. She has also appeared in Hair as well as Leap of Faith.  We will also discuss the less than smash hit movie Aaliyah Princess of R&B. The movie was not good at all. Alexandra Shipp is a beautfiul young lady but I am not reminded of Aaliyah when I look at her. The gentleman that played R. ea Kelly did not even resemble him. The only positive aspect was the depiction of Aaliyah's mother who seemed so supportive. Since she and her mother had such a close bond, it is important to show how her family reacted to her death. That did not happen. An hour was focused on the relationship between R. Kelly and 15 year old Aaliyah. They rushed through her later years. It would have been far more intreresting to see the weeks leading up to her ill fated trip to the Bahamas. 00:31:00The Urban Woman RadionoKrystal Joy Brown,Motown the Musical,Aaliyah,Aaliyah Princess of R&B,Lifetime MoviesOn a Special Edition of The Urban Woman Radio we will be chatting with one of the stars of the smash hit Motown the Musical.  Krystal Joy Brown plays Diana RossThe Urban Woman Radio: Cinderella on Broadway Recap and a Host of Other Things..http://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-urban-woman-radio/2014/11/02/the-urban-woman-radio-cinderella-on-broadway-recap-and-a-host-of-other-thingsMoms and Familyhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-urban-woman-radio/2014/11/02/the-urban-woman-radio-cinderella-on-broadway-recap-and-a-host-of-other-things/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-urban-woman-radio/2014/11/02/the-urban-woman-radio-cinderella-on-broadway-recap-and-a-host-of-other-thingsSun, 02 Nov 2014 20:00:00 GMTThe Urban Woman Radio: Cinderella on Broadway Recap and a Host of Other Things..  Last Friday, I had the huge honor and pleasure to see Cinderella on Broadway. The show was spectacular. Keke Palmer played the role  of Cinderella with a refreshing innocence. Her singing voice is unbelievable.  I enjoyed the modern twists on the story of Cinderella. Sherri Shepherd was the runaway hit of the show. She owned the part of the Wicked Stepmother. The Holiday Season is fast approaching. In the weeks to come we will be discussing ways you can give back to the community.  We will also discuss Holiday Recipes. Many people are trying to watch their weight. Do you skip your diet during the holiday season ? Do you believe in having a "cheat day". Ive cut back on the amount of sufgar I consume, but I find myself giving into temptation.  It is important to remember those who are less fortunate during the Holidays. How are your children doing in school ? Have they already fallen back into their old habits ? How do you keep your children focused  We will be taking a closer look at Pupilpath.  According to the Bayside HS. website: Pupil Path is a student information system for parents and students. Pupil Path allows parents and students to view important student and school information such as student attendance records, class schedule, assignment due dates and grades, graduation eligibility, school announcements, and more. This is a convenient tool for both parents and students to keep up with class work and student performance.   I love Pupilpath because it allows me to keep track of my child's progress on a daily basis. I do not have to keep asking: Did you get your test back ? How do you think you are doing ? The answer from my 6th grader  is always "great" but as my 13-year old says:" Pupilpath says otherwise." I also enjoy being able to interact with the teachers and receive reminders about upcoming projects etc. I feel less reluctant to reach out and ask questions about my child's progress. Speaking of school, School Lunch is free for Middle School students in NYC. We will find out the reason for this... In the entertainment segment we will discuss my two favorite shows.  Being Mary Jane and Power.  Here is quiz ? What is the common denominator in these two shows.... True to Social Media Form, Facebook Vigilantes were calling for an immediate butt whooping for this future Johnny Cochran.  I guess these people have no idea what it is like to raise a child like this. My ten year old is very skilled in the art of negotiating.  Rather than ask for what she wants she performs an acrobatic routine that spells out what she would like. I will also continue to discuss the book: "Is that Me Yelling" by Rona Renner. So far I have not made much progress in that area.
