Many of these technologies are destructive to public health and to the environment. However, billions of taxpayer dollars could be saved by cutting subsidies to them. Yet, we continue to ask taxpayers to subsidize these technologies of the past or to ante up money for new harmful technologies is fiscally and environmentally reckless. The government has been doling out too much money in subsidies that being used for old technologies that are not helping us secure sustainable and reliable energy. Since its inception in 1994, the Green Scissors Campaign has fought to make environmental and fiscal responsibility priorities in Washington. The campaign seeks to eliminate subsidies and programs that harm the environment and waste taxpayer dollars. By making these cuts, the federal government can save money for priorities including deficit reduction. ConservAmerica has partnered with The Green Scissors Campaign to help educate and provide outreach for this initiative. In this segment of The Clean Energy View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Rob Sisson, President of ConservAmerica, the national grassroots organization of Republicans for Environmental Protection. As the price of petroleum continues to rise, many people are converting their cars and motorcycles to electric powered vehicles. Clean transportation enthusiast, Ben Nelson has developed a “Do It Yourself” series to teach people with minimal skills how to build their own electric car. Ben’s educational videos make converting your old gas guzzler easy regardless of whether you are a mechanic or your only experience has been with matchbox cars! Ben covers everything you need to know from battery selection, the motor, controller, adapter plate and other minor parts! Ben is a natural born guru! While he had no formal training in electric vehicle design before beginning his first project, he quickly learned how to build “EV’s” (electronic vehicles) through a combination of hands-on work, informal apprenticeships, and enough library books to literally wear out his library card. He has presented his electric vehicles at many venues, including the Mother Earth Fairs and being the best attended presentation at the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair. He has also been a collaborator on the Open Revolt project, which makes low-cost electric vehicle motor controllers available to everyone. In addition to his passion for clean transportation, Ben has also designed and built projects for renewable energy, water conservation, and alternative heating and cooking methods. He teaches these ideas and techniques to others through blogs, web videos, and instructional DVDs. In this segment of The Clean Energy View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Ben Nelson about how to Build Your Own Electric Car and Motorcycle. Based on his theory, he presented a paper to the 1956 meeting of the American Petroleum Institute in San Antonio, Texas, which predicted that overall petroleum production would peak in the United States between the late 1960s and the early 1970s. While Dr. Hubbert’s analysis may have missed the mark in terms of date, one only has to look at the price at the gas pump to see that the days of cheap petroleum are gone.   In the past, one gallon of oil produced 100 gallons. Now production efficiencies cost 1 gallon per 3 gallons in new sources like tar sands.  These costs do not include the public health impacts or environmental degradation further inflating fossil fuels actual costs to society. With American fossil fuel companies spending only 0.42% of sales in research and development (the pharmaceutical industry spends 20.5%), the time has now come to push forward and invest in a clean energy future. Tune in to this segment of The Clean Energy View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer talks to the Reverend Mitch Hescox about peak oil. The Rev. Mitchell Hescox serves as President/CEO of The Evangelical Environmental Network publisher, Creation Care Magazine. The Evangelical Environmental Network is a ministry dedicated to the care of God’s creation. He has testified before Congress, appeared on CNN, NPR, PRI and numerous radio programs both Christian and secular. He has also been named one of the ten Environmental Religious Saints by Huffington Post. One popular method is biogas. Biogas originates from biogenic material and is a type of biofuel. Biogas typically refers to a gas produced by the biological breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. Organic waste such as dead plant and animal material, animal feces, and kitchen waste can be converted into a gaseous fuel called biogas. It can be created using minimal resources and is also not very expensive to produce.  Tune in to this segment of The Clean Energy View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer is joined by special guest Tim Mann, the co-owner of Friendly Aquaponics who will talk about how you can create your own biofuel. 00:32:00The Clean Energy ViewnoTim Mann, biogas, waste, compost, biofuelAs the demand for energy independence increases, the race is on to find sustainable methods of energy. William Engdahl - Myths, Lies and Oil WarsThe myth of oil scarcity is one of the foundations that have allowed four giant oil corporations along with a handful of Wall Street banks to control the world's largest and most essential commodity: oil. The myth originated in the 1950's from a speech by geologist at Shell and was revived in 2003 at the time of the US bombing of Iraq. The reality is quite different from the claims of Peak Oil. In reality, the world is running into oil and not running out of oil. Huge new oil and gas fields are being discovered from the eastern Mediterranean to the coast of Brazil, from East Africa to Iran and Iraq, from Norway to the Caribbean. In F. William Engdahl’s newest book, "Myths, Lies and Oil Wars” discusses the little-known details of wars and manipulations designed over the past half century or more up to the wars in Africa, the Arab Spring, Iraq, all to maintain a lock-grip control of the world's known oilfields. The myth of scarcity has been a pillar of their power and as a result, propaganda for their self-serving agendas.
