Sears Homes

Did you know the largest seller of homes prior to WW II was Sears and Robuck?  Tune int this podcast to learn more about them.  Between 1908 and 1940 Sears sold between 70k and 75k homes.  They had around 370 styles and sold them all over the country.  They would ship the entire house except the foundation on a rail car to your city.  Everything you needed to build the home, wood, shingles, nails, windows, all of it.   Sears simplified the construction too making it easy to build.  Some owners built it themselves with friends or had a local contractor do it.  Sears was not the only maker of theses kit homes though.  There were others like Aladdin,Gordon Van Tine, Harris etc....  If you need your Sears home or any other home inspected and you like in Charlotte NC, Raleigh NC, or Asheville NC call Home Inspection Carolina at 704-542-6575
