Red Lake tribal members and allies are demanding that Enbridge Energy LP stop the flow of oil through pipelines that were built without permission on tribal lands. Talkupy with Annie Lindstrom welcomes Marty Cobenais, pipeline organizer for the Indigenous Environmental Network and a member of Red Lake Ojibwe, to the show on Thursday, March 5, at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. The group known as the Nizhawendaamin Indaakiminaan are occupying the land directly over the pipelines on Red Lake land to demand they be shut down and to stand in solidarity with First Nation people in Canada, Mother Earth and future generations. A leader on pipeline safety issues, Marty led the resistance to Enbridge's Alberta Clipper Pipeline and currently is fighting TransCanada's Keystone XL Pipeline. We will also discuss consequences of taking oil from  Canada's Tar Sands.
