More drugs, less crime and addiction?  Dr. Michael Reznicek, author of Blowing Smoke: Rethinking the War on Drugs, thinks so.  In his controversial book he argues that the country should return to a simpler a time, a time pre-Harrison Narcotics Tax Act of 1914, a time when everything was legal and you could order cocaine, heroin and opium from the Sears catalog, yet there was very little addiction and crime associated with it. He also argues that current drug laws are rooted in racism--with the government imposing stiffer penalties for some than others.

But have his views modified since Washington and Oregon legalized marijuana?  And, does he think the legal market for marijuana can ever truly compete with the black market because of the excess taxation.
