Author interview with Debra Anastasia talking about Return to Poughkeepsie

    in Books

Come join me and Debra Anastasia while we talk about her new soon to be released and highly attencipated sequel Return to Poughkeepsie and ask questions or just listen to learn about her creative process of writing. I can't wait to meet her on my last radio show of the year!

    About the author:

Debra Anastasia is busy, just like every other mom. There's dinner, the dogs, the two kids, the two kids, and her ongoing battle with...ahem... digestive issues, which combined with her adolescent boy sense of humor makes for colorful and sometimes cringe-worthy social media updates. Her first love and crowning achievement is her thriving career as the weirdest mom on the block.

Her writing started a decent handful of years ago when--along with the animals and humans in her house--the voices of characters started whispering stories in Debra's ear. Insomnia was the gateway to plots that wouldn't give up, wouldn't let go. Now they stalk her everywhere. Halfway through making lunches, a twist takes hold and--fingers full of peanut butter--she finds somewhere, anywhere to write it down.

She's eternally grateful to Omnific Publishing, which has now published four of her books: two in the Seraphim Series and two in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series, as well as her novella, Late Night with Andres. That one is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. (So go get it right now, please!) She also very much appreciates her open-minded readers, who embrace everything she has to offer, with a focus on anti-heroes and bathroom humor.

Debra lives in Maryland with her family. You can find her at DebraAnastasia.com and on Twitter @Debra_Anastasia. But be prepared.

    Occupy Poughkeepsie: Interview

    in Politics

This show will be on the Occupy Movement and will have members of Occupy Poughkeepsie on the show to discuss their points of view, as well as the perspective coming from this show. The international banking cartel is pushing forward with the global agenda, and it is up to us to stop it, for we are the ones who collectively allow this agenda to push forward!
I have been down to visit and interview at Occupy Poughkeepsie, and I am fully behind what they are doing...with my only warning being to be very careful of the various influences that are attempting to infiltrate the movement and use it to further push the global agenda.

    BODY DUMP-Fred Rosen

    in Entertainment

The author of the true crime classic Lobster Boy now turns his investigative skills to the chilling true story of Kendall Francois, one of the most bizarre serial sex-killers of modern times. In October, 1996, young, pretty, and petite women began vanishing off the streets of Poughkeepsie, New York. Most were prostitutes and some were addicts. By August, 1998, the toll had reached eight, when a prostitute told police she had barely escaped being strangled by Kendall Francois, 27, a 6'4", 300-lb. middle school hall monitor whose slovenly personal hygiene had earned him the nickname "Stinky." Inside his house, the smell was worse, as investigators discovered a tangle of rotting flesh and bones - eight female corpses, almost all decomposed. Francois was sentenced to life in prison without parole. BODY DUMP-Fred Rosen

    Oh Nuts!

    in Finance

Each year on May 12, a food holiday is celebrated: National Nutty Fudge Day.

In 1886, a letter was found, written by Emelyn Bettersby Hartridge, a student at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, referring to “fudge” that her cousin had made, in Baltimore Maryland, selling the concoction for a fundraiser.  Hartridge was able to obtain the recipe and in 1888, she made 30 pounds of chocolate nut fudge for the Vassar College Senior Auction.

In the early 20th century, some shops on Mackinac Island, Michigan, began to produce similar products as the Vassar College fudge, and sold it to summer vacationers.  Fudge soon became a national homemade confection.

So, how are you raising extra funds to go to school? Selling fudge? Selling your future?

We chat with NY Hip Hop Recording Artist, Don Dayo

    in Music

Christopher Forte, better known by his stage name Don Dayo is an American hip hop recording artist from Poughkeepsie, New York. He is currently the lead artist on the record label KNS Records. His main goal is to bring the uncut original New York flavor back into the culture of hip hop music.

Forte's mainstream debut was a complete success, as his debut single “Superstar” - of which was released on January 5, 2015 – broke into the top 5,000 records in the Amazon Music best seller's list. This single is the lead off from his“Scorpion Stamp 2” album which is already in stores worldwide. Forte has acquired the attention of program directors from some notable stations including but by no means limited to Notorious 760 Radio, Hard Body Radio and Dj Todd's Underground.

In late December 2014 Forbes Music Inc and KNS Records combined forces to further boost visibility on the up and coming rap star's career and have already started planning a 10 city tour for the promotion of his follow up album (still yet to be named). The tour is most likely to follow suit with what Forbes Music Inc has shown us in the past and jump off in Atlanta, Georgia.

For now Forbes Music Inc and KNS Records plan to keep it simple and focus on the release of Forte's new and upcoming musical works. President of Independent Radio Promotions at Forbes Music D'ron Forbes stated on January 2nd during the preliminary conference between himself and Forte, “our main goal is to create undeniable music that can compete at the top levels of the urban market at this point, and at any point in the future”. Forte is already one of the top selling Forbes Music artists of all time.
