Join your host Wes Blackman as he welcomes once again West Palm Beach Commissioner and Lake Worth small business owner Shanon Materio to the High Noon in Lake Worth studios. You might recall that Ms. Materio was appointed to fill former Commissioner Bill Moss' seat upon his unexpected death soon after re-election. Within a year, she had to run a campaign to keep her seat and successfully defeated her challenger. No challenger filed to run in this past March's West Palm Beach election, so Shanon is enjoying her first full, two-year term as Commissioner. She and her husband Phil own the award-winning McMow Art Glass studio on Dixie Hwy. in Lake Worth and live in the southend of West Palm Beach. Commissioner Materio is joining me to talk about potential improvements to the C-51 canal, (ultimately designed to make the canal navigable), the potential redevelopment of the Palm Coast Plaza property and what will happen to the vacant land which borders the north side of the canal across from the Arbor Plaza in Lake Worth. I am sure we will talk about city infrastructure, the Lake Worth 2020 ballot issue, All Aboard Florida and what West Palm Beach plans to do to fund its future infrastructure needs.
Bicycles and Black people in West Palm Beach have a complicated relationship. Who's to Blame? Do Blacks hate bikes? Is that why they get arrested more in West Palm Beach when riding them? I didn't even know biking while black was a thing.
We are meeting with Chip Paul (co-founder) from Palm Beach Vapors franchise. Palm Beach Vapors is a pioneer in the e-cigarette vapor market. They started our company not with the purpose of selling just another product, but with a true passion for helping folks, just like you, lessen the risks involved with smoking. From the moment you walk in a store, you’ll see why we’re so good at helping our customers find freedom from the use of traditional tobacco cigarettes. Their products are less expensive, cleaner, higher quality, and free from many of the harmful chemicals found in tobacco smoke. Find out more by listening to the show.

Paying Tribute to Dr. Edgar Mitchell - Rebroadcast. On January 31, 1971, Navy Captain Dr. Edgar Mitchell embarked on a journey into outer space that resulted in becoming the sixth man to walk on the moon. This historic journey ended safely nine days later. It was an audacious time in the history of mankind. For Dr. Mitchell, however, the most extraordinary journey was yet to come. Traveling back to Earth, having just walked on the moon, Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell had an experience for which nothing in his life had prepared him. As he approached the planet we know as home, he was filled with an inner conviction as certain as any mathematical equation he'd ever solved. He knew that the beautiful blue world to which he was returning is part of a living system, harmonious and whole—and that we all participate, as he expressed it later, "in a universe of consciousness." Within two years of his expedition, Dr. Mitchell founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences in 1973.
