When Caroline Picard, The Cajun Queen, hits the stage with her signature red boots, her audience has about six seconds to get on her wavelength. Caroline lets them know right away that they are about to experience something really refreshing – a real person who is comfortable with her beliefs and has no problem making you laugh at them. Once Caroline is on stage it’s crystal clear that you have come to the house of “The Queen” and you will play by her rules. This born and raised Louisiana lady, has a style that is all her own.
Caroline is a favorite in the clubs as well as on Carnival Cruise lines ships, where she is now known as “Carnival’s Cajun Queen." Since she has been working for Carnival, she has not only her adult shows, she now has over an hour of “Family Friendly” material. On these ships she is performing for diverse crowds, yet they all relate to her humor. Because of this she can perform in front of any crowd; including Corporate functions.
She has done three tours in Iraq, as well as Kosovo. Her credits in the industry include XM Radio, Sirius Radio, AOL Radio, National Lampoon Radio, Pandora, Slacker Radio and Comedy 24/7. Her film credits are Actor/Associate Producer on “Fist Full of Pills” which was presented an “Honorary Award” at The Just For Laughs international festival in Montreal in 2005. Her comedic awards include Comic of the Year 2002 for Hysterical Management and Hysterical’s Award of Excellence for her professionalism on and off the stage.
Caroline’s CD: “Live at the Laff Stop” was entered for a nomination for “Best Comedy Album” for the 51st Grammys!
Washington Nationals' right-hander Max Scherzer returned to form and the Nats' bats came to life in the sixth and seventh innings against St. Louis Cardinals' starter Carlos Martinez as the Nationals swept the three-game set in Busch Stadium with a 6-1 win. It was the first sweep in the Nationals' franchise history (2005-present) and the first sweep in overall franchise history since the Montreal Expos swept the Cards thirty years again in 1986. 30 years? And Bryce Harper was hitless in the series... Nationals now 17-7.
There's a lot to yammer on about, so let's get to it.
This coming weekend Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto rematch on Fox, and it's a fight that has "guilty pleasure" written all over it. The fight could get weird, it could get dirty... Whatever it gets, we'll watch. Also this weekend, the Dirrell Brothers fight on the same card Friday night on Spike. So that's a thing.
On Saturday night both Badou Jack and James DeGale are featured in separate fights on Showtime. Jack is set to meet Lucian Bute, while James DeGale fights Rogelio Medina.
Worthy of some discussion, however, was the HBO card headlined by Gennady Golovkin, who ran through Dominic Wade in two rounds. He's at the doorstep of something big. And on the undercard, Roman Gonzalez won a decision over McWilliams Arroyo.
All this and more (Francisco Vargas' positive PED test, etc) are covered on this week's episode by Patrick Connor of The Fight City, FloBoxing and more.

Nadine Sures is a transdisciplinary theatre artist originally from Canada, currently living in Beirut, Lebanon. Nadine has worked professionally and internationally as a performer, director, producer and teacher for the last 20 years. Recipient of the Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Award, Nadine established herself as a performance artist in Montreal and Beirut by showcasing her own creations across Canada, Europe and the Middle-East.
When asked about her current work, L’Armoire des Om’bres, Nadine says, “When I first read Hyam Yared’s text L'armoire des ombres, I was touched by the rawness and truthful passion, the words like a dance inviting me to move closer to my core.”
L’armoire des ombres explores the depths of the shadow realm in psychology, in parallel to the fragile state of women’s rights in the Middle East. Nadine has been living and working in Beirut, Lebanon for 5 years now: a city where the female actor has little chance of making a career for herself and where women still negotiate with archaic laws on marriage and civil liberties. The text spoke to her own personal experience there.
Set in Beirut, the performance tells the story of an actor, desperate to pay her rent, who auditions for the lead part in a play. Forced to leave her shadow at the coat check for the audition and subsequent performances, she gets the part yet never meets the director, who remains invisible. On stage, a single wardrobe containing only shadows, unveils a series of narratives that the actor communicates to growing audiences. She eventually discovers that the shadows of the prostitute, mother, lesbian lover, abused wife, and homeless woman are all an integrative part of her psyche. Daily she walks through crowds of protesters who pressure her to take on their cause, and as the masses outside begin to charge the theatre entrance, the actor escapes by disappearing into the wardrobe.
