Lance Loya has a passion for teaching people to be good teammates! He is the author of two books—the popular children’s book Be A Good Teammate and the newly released Building Good Teammates. Although Loya has spent most of his coaching career at the collegiate level, he has worked with players at nearly every level of basketball. His youth basketball camps are some of the nation’s largest and attended by several hundred players every summer, popular with aspiring players becasue of the emphasis on teamwork. Campers are reminded daily that good teammates care, good teammates share, and good teammates listen™.
A former point guard at Garrett Community College and the University of South Carolina-Upstate, Loya garnered a reputation for being a “coach” on the court and true student of the game. As a player, he earned Academic All-American honors, and went on to earn a Masters degree in sports management. He is presently the all-time most winning basketball coach in Mount Aloysius College history. Though innovative in his coaching techniques, Loya's philosophies are still deeply grounded in a strict adherence to fundamentals, discipline, and good sportsmanship, which he instills in players. Loya is two-time recipient of the Schoenfeld Award for sportsmanship, character, and ethics, presented by the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association (CBOA). His players have also been recognized for espousing these same values, Loya was a radio morning show disc jockey. His public speaking skills have allowed him to become a sought-after speaker at schools, banquets, and various other corporate and civic functions.

#RussellMania: The Over and Back Classic NBA podcast is devoting the next few weeks to Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell.
We continue in our deep dive into the life and career of Bill Russell by discussing the 1950s and 1960s playoff battles between the Boston Celtics and Syracuse Nationals (now the Philadelphia 76ers). We talk about how Dolph Schayes was a bridge between the old game and the new, how the Nationals-Celtics rivalry was fierce even before Russell joined the team, how Russell’s defense affected the Nats’ play (especially Johnny “Red” Kerr), and how close the Nationals came to beating the Celtics in 1959. We also share stories of how Celtics broadcaster Johnny Most nearly lost his dentures during a game, the disappearing 7-foot-3 Swede Halbrook, players who both played in the MLB and NBA, plus the contributions of Paul Seymour, Hal Greer, Larry Costello, George Yardley, Ed Conlin, Al Bianchi, Earl Lloyd, and, most importantly, pay tribute to the one-minute career of Forest “Frosty” Able.

SS Lane Victory Merchant Marine
Saturday June 21 2014 I had the privilege of flying both my US flag and the flag of US Army Captain Fulbright on board the SS Lane Victory. I also met with Mr. Gregory Williams Executive Director of the US Merchant Marine Veterans World War II.
It was that meeting that resulted in this show has we will talk about the ship, its history and now it's new life as a floating museum.
I have had the privilege of being on one their cruises to Catalina Island, and flying my flags on board the ship and now to satisfy another "bucket list" goal to do a live podcast.
Joining me will be Armando Sanchez who will co- hosting. Has always you are invited to join in
Built in 1945, here in Los Angeles, CA, the S.S. Lane Victory served with distinction during World War II, The Korean War, and the Vietnam War as well as in times of peace as part of the merchant fleet. After years of deterioration in mothballs, it took countless hours of restoration to put her back into her original condition by volunteers of the United States Merchant Marine Veterans of World War II. A nationally recognized historic landmark, the S.S. Lane Victory now serves as a living museum and memorial to the service and sacrifices of all Merchant Marine sailors and Navy Armed Guardsmen. Several times each summer she sails into the past on one of her "Victory At Sea" cruises where "old salts" can reminisce, about adventures past, and younger generations can catch a glimpse of bygone times.

Why are we born to own our careers?
-Our ancestors had to be resourceful and creative to feed themselves and survive.
-Work in its current form is a new invention and the rare exception in history, not a natural human state.
How has the world of work changed?
-The traditional career paths and assumptions are no longer valid — e.g. that big corporations will take care of loyal workers who automatically move up in a career escalator — due to at least two (interrelated) macro forces:
-(1) Technology (automates jobs, changes the nature of jobs, and makes it easier to offshore jobs), and
-(2) Globalization (increases competition for jobs).
-“Professional loyalty now flows ‘horizontally’ to and from your network rather than ‘vertically’ to your boss.”
-“Networking has been replaced by intelligent network building.”
-“Searching for a job only when you’re unemployed or unhappy at work has been replaced by always be generating
-And much much more!

Director of the Protect and Defend Network Nommo Userkaf is joined by Assistant Director Neferu Anu as they call out the Black Man for standing idly by while his race is being destroyed.
Whether it's taking cell phone video while a Black Woman is being attacked, blaming the Black Woman for being victimized or being 'late' or 'unavailable' for the Protect and Defend Network Weekly Roll Call the Black Man's apathy is ubiquitous and pronounced. And it is actively leading the Black Race closer and closer to genocide.
What's causing the Black Man's inaction? Why is he always moving at a snail's pace, at best, when it comes to facing his responsibilities? What will it take for him to get off his ass and be about his business?
Being ostracized from the community is one answer. Some Sisters have proposed that the sacred vagina be off limits as another tactic. Yet another thought is to hold him to a clear and definable standard as we are doing with the Protect and Defend Network's weekly 'Roll Call' which we will certainly continue to do.
This is not a joke. This is not a peripheral concern. Black Man Apathy is at the top of the list of things that must be overcome if we are to advance as a race and effectively Protect and Defend the Black Woman and Child.
Join Host Nommo Userkaf and Co-host Neferu Anu as they explore the various tactics that we must consider using to force the Black Man to become active in his role as Protector of the Community. As always, your input is welcome and necessary and you are invited to call in and participate in the discussion.
