    American Idols - Do it for the Divine (FAME)

    in Self Help

    This week we are starting our new series American Idols! And no, this doesn’t involve Simon Cowell, J Lo, Ryan Seacrest or any of the American Idol wannabes. However, we are going to talk about some of the idols that we have created in America, and the strongholds that they have created in our lives, even as Christians.

    What is an idol? An idol is simply a false god. That person or that thing that you think fills you, completes you, provides for you, makes you happy, etc. It is anything that puts a barrier between you and the one true source, which is God. How do you know if something is an idol in your life? That person or thing that you can’t let go of, that you refuse to give up, that you rely on outside of God, etc. Those things are idols. It can be people, substances, feelings, material things…whatever. We use these things to fill voids that only God can fill, and that He wants to fill.

    In this first episode we are going to talk about the idol of FAME. Why do people want to be famous? Do we really need to be famous to fulfill God's purpose for our lives? What are some of the downfalls of being famous? Let's see what God's Word has to say about it

    Vs. 8. For from you sounded out the Word of the Lord not only on Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God- ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak anything.
    Vs. 9. For they themselves shew or us what manner or entering in we had unto you, and how you turned to God from Idols to serve the living God;

    Lamar Odom is wrapped up in a carnal life and its going to take a lot more than Kardashian smiles for him to see the light.

    Destroying the Image of God Pt 1: Made in His Image Pt 2

    in Christianity

    Tonight we continue with our discussion from last week.  We’ll be going through the Word of God while giving you modern examples of how the image of God has been warped into something that doesn’t resemble his character. As Christians, are we living up to the standards that God/Jesus has put in front of us? Or has Satan’s agenda swept into our minds also? What is your world view? Is it from the Bible or a strange belief system? Has the culture determined how we relate to God? Or are we still bowing down to idols? Has the realm of entertainment clouded your mind with strange interpretations of Jesus? We’ll address these issues and more!

    There’s also an image of God that we have in our heads that might not be who God really is. We must weigh everything: Our concepts, beliefs, and way of life up against the Word of God and our living King Jesus Christ. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. The Prince of Peace and Righteous Judge, which is coming back to rule and reign forever. He is Holy, He is Holy, He is Holy!

    Join Chris and Rory starting tonight at the new time 8pm EST as we delve into the Word of God and give you some interesting facts.

    Prophecy against Babylon (Jeremiah 50:1-4)

    in Christianity

    The word which the Lord spoke concerning Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans, through Jeremiah the prophet: “Declare and proclaim among the nations. Proclaim it and lift up a standard. Do not conceal it but say, ‘Babylon has been captured, Bel has been put to shame, Marduk has been shattered; Her images have been put to shame, her idols have been shattered.’ For a nation has come up against her out of the north; it will make her land an object of horror, and there will be no inhabitant in it.

    Both man and beast have wandered off, they have gone away! “In those days and at that time,” declares the Lord, “the sons of Israel will come, both they and the sons of Judah as well; they will go along weeping as they go, and it will be the Lord their God they will seek.
