Though women often assume differently, the career opportunities available to them as a result of their knowledge of mobile/wireless technologies are almost limitless and cross many industries. To help them get educated about a few of those career options, the ‘Women in Mobile/Wireless Tech’ Advisory Council of the Mobile Technology Association of Michigan (MTAM) is hosting a careers event on April 21st from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at RIIS Corporate offices at 1250 Stephenson Highway in Troy.

Have you heard of Sean Aiken—founder of the One Week Job project which was launched in February 2007 when 25-year-old college graduate? According to Wikipedia, ‘Sean Aiken worked 52 jobs in 52 weeks to find his passion in life and the idea to try out a new job each week came to Aiken when he realized he was unsure of what career to pursue after completing a business degree. In lieu of wages, Aiken asked his “employers” to donate to Make Poverty History, and raised $20,401.60 for the campaign.

As we approach Veterans Day in November we want to make our Community aware of the Importance of Military Spouses Careers. More than one million service members will leave the military in the next five years. With this drawdown, and ongoing budget cut discussion, it's fair to say that our military families are in a state of high uncertainty, even for our community.
America will need the strength of its military families more than ever in the coming years. As we approach the second anniversary of a massive campaign to help veterans find jobs, "Hiring our Heroes" has been a godsend to those who care about our country's future.
Spouses need to Network with each other and with people in the business community to learn how communicate their strengths. Together, we can help strengthen our military families, our military and our economy.
