Do you like getting friend advice? We're talking about the kind of advice you offer, rather than what your friend asks for. Often friend advice can be confusing, especially if you don't really trust your friend. Often you may confuse what you consider as advice with your opinions - what they “should” do. When a friend hears “should” it often shuts down their capacity to hear you. It's a brain thing. This’s what we’re tackling in today's show. The balance between when a friend gives you great insights and when a friend brings you down. CALL - 347-324-3200 and join in the conversation!! In Friend Advice: Good, Bad, Ugly, there’s a section on how to figure out if your advice comes from your heart or ego. We'll discuss this too! Ego – what you think they should do. We investigate tips so that you can hear your friend and what they need from you to move forward. Communication is vital in your friendships and what you often need is as simple as comfort, understanding and love. Remember… a great friend starts with you! "I don't like to pass judgment on Miley Cyrus. Generally, people need to lighten up about pop music - it's about entertainment," the singer [Lady Gaga], who opened the VMAs with a performance of her new song "Applause," reportedly told The Sun. "It is here to make you smile and make you happy. Especially in America, there is an excessive dragging of female artists, and I don't want to contribute to that." – Huffington Post. This week we discuss why we judge friends.Do you feel judged by your friends? Do you find yourself judging your friends? I’ve been judged (negatively) and it doesn't feel good. And I’ve judged friends at times, and that doesn’t feel any better. Strong judgments range from close friends to celebrities. Ask yourself, why are you judging your close friends? Envy? Listen to the show, “Confessions of an Envious Friend.” Tabloids define a celebrity’s character by catching an off-the-cuff “photo op” outside a club or while they’re grocery shopping, etc. Too drunk, what’s up with this new look/boyfriend/weight? Judging vs Discernment Discernment – wisdom, clear sightedness - however, is a measured and well thought out opinion. Go to www.superfriendgroups.com to read full blog. Many of her fans are weighing in about how she should divorce (which was decreed July 31 after 10 years of marriage), or become an advocate for spousal abuse, or, or… news flash: Fans - you don’t know her. You may think you know her, but most of you have never met her in person. Interestingly, her fans have had more press about this situation than her close friends. Possibly because her true friends are keeping it zipped. Real Friends Don't Talk Her friends have offered their support of Nigella, including her good buddy, and former James Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan. And, other friends, including Jemima Khan have been supporting her and not announcing tidbits about their support to the press. Working in Hollywood While a producer in Hollywood I worked with a number of celebrities and during one show some stars discussed what happens when a stranger approaches them for a hug. I’ll put that video up on my site www.superfriendgroups.com about one show we produce on this very topic. How weird they feel that a stranger has such access to your life and offers opinions when they haven’t met you. Although celebrities want to embrace their popularity some fans cross a line. I was working around the corner on Beverly Boulevard when  actress Rebecca Schaeffer, My Sister Sam, was murdered by a crazed fan. Wow, imagine having friends that for (probably) a fee were paid to dish the dirt on you.    Pain from deception. For many of us regular folk, let's discuss what happens when your spouse/partner cheats with your best friend. You lose your partner and your friend at the same time. A double whammy.  Lots of pain and hurt. During the show we discuss personal stories of deception and how to survive the hurtful ordeal. Be proactive. Ask yourself: What if you truly fall in love with a friend’s partner? What friends would stand by you and not dish the dirt to the tabloids for a fee? How can you get through such a painful period? Twice I’ve had rocky times with friends in business, but during those times I discovered something amazing. Even while stressed out with my friend in our business commitments, all money and intellectual property dealings were divvied up fairly. Fairness in friendship is an essential trait for me. It’s what I call “mini justice.” If you can reach that level of justice in your close relationships you’ll be better able to determine what’s fair on a broader social scale. Fairness is often only tested when a challenge or conflict arises. During the radio show we will discuss current cases in the news such as the Trayvon Martin lawsuit and why many cases that go through the legal system are perceived negatively by both sides. During these times it’s important to reflect on your own beliefs around fairness both personally and socially. Are your friends treating you fairly? Do you listen to your friend’s concerns and respond or react? Can you calm down, be patient when you’re receiving either personal negative or challenging comments? Often, when you're patient you can understand your friend's point of view and reach a mediation point that works for both you and your friend. Being fair to others and to your self may take a life time of practice. But, striving to find a quality of fairness for your friend toolkit inspires greater understanding and well being for your future. 00:31:00Super Friend Groups Talk RadionoFriendship,Fairness in Friendship,Friends in Business,Trayvon Martin Lawsuit,Social and Personal JusticeAre you fair in your friendships?
