Sunny Internet Radio was a online radio station that ran off and of from August 2009-January 2014. All episodes were hosted by DJ Stevie P and a couple of year end countdown episodes by George W. Bush. The DJ played great music from the 1950’s through today; along with holiday specials. Sunny Internet Radio was the brainchild of Sun Valley Resort hotel worker Stephen Poindexter. In the Summer of 2009, there were only a couple of radio stations in the Sun Valley, Idaho area. KESH 95.3 FM was the main station in the area. Playing music mostly from the late 1960’s to the early 1990’s. That fell into the rock genre. Other than that, there is a country radio station, modern rock, An relay station of Boise State Public Radio and a light Jazz station. Stephen Poindexter, working the graveyard shift, wanted something else to listen to. Besides the overhead radio station in the lobby, that played nothing but light classical music. So after an Internet search, Stephen found blogtalkradio.com. Stephen’s first show was on August 27, 2009 at 4:30 PM MDT. The first show was on President Obama and how he was changing what 9/11 was to focus on. The show was 30 minutes of talk and no music. Over time, the DJ switched to an all music format. From time to time DJ Stevie P also went by the name DJ Aaron Dunn. Most of the shows were a mix of music. The DJ found that themed shows would draw more listens. Various themed shows included “Tuesday Twoplay”, “Thursday Throwdown, ” Saturday Spotlight” and Monday Modern Hits. Special episodes were broadcasted from time to time including the show “Halloween Music on Valentine’s Day” and a special mostly talk episode called “Stop the Madness” that aired one day after Congresswoman Gabby Giffords (D-AZ) was shot in the head and survived. In 2014, the show ended on a regular basis when DJ Stevie moved to Florida. To take care of his now late mother. The DJ did one show in 2015. The tribute show to his late mother.
